CHANCEL CHOIR
Our Chancel Choir ministry is the cornerstone of the music program at Daniels Chapel. Consisting of 35+ members, this group presents music for worship each week for our 11:00 service. Special programs are presented throughout the year, including our Old Fashioned Meeting services which include the entire Wilson Community, and our Christmas program which incorporates orchestration. The chancel choir is a wonderful and exciting group of members, and is growing every month. If you would like to be a part of our chancel choir, please contact Melissa Coutts, or come to one of our rehearsals on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m.
YOUTH CHOIRS
Daniels Chapel enjoys a wonderful and very active youth choir program. Our choirs for young people in 8th through 12th grades are divided by grade, and are distinct in the style and volume of music that they perform throughout the year.
Our Celebration Choir is for youth in 6th through 8th grades, and sings mainly unison and two part music. This group presents music for our worship services each month, and also takes their ministry to the community, singing for shut-ins and at nursing homes, and caroling through the Wilson and Black Creek communities. This group is directed by Linda Flora, and meets every Wednesday Night in the Family Life Center.
Our Senior High Choir, called the Believers, is our most advanced youth choir. They sing three and four part music usually taken from standard choral literature, and perform for church services, functions, community events, and for our shut-ins and nursing home residents. Most of our high school youth are actively participating in ther high school choirs as well, and give many extra hours of service to present the music they prepare for church. This group performs two concerts at the church each year in addition to their monthly presentations for our worship services. This choir is directed by Joel Gay, and meets in the Family Life Center.
CHILDRENS CHOIRS
Our childrens choirs are divided into three age-appropriate groups.
The Childrens choir is for youth in grades 3 to 5, and sings monthly for our worship services. They also present a wonderful musical/drama each Christmas for our church-wide Christmas Dinner. This group, under the direction of Donna Sullivan, meets every Wednesday at 7:00 in the Family Life Center.
The Cherub Choir is for children who are in K-2nd grades. This choir includes the use of handbells in their rehearsals and performances, as well as singing. The Cherubs present a short Christmas musical/drama each year for our church-wide Christmas Dinner. This group, under the direction of Teresa Kirby, meets every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center.
The Preschool Choir is for children who are 2 to 4 years of age. This choir incorporates several musical activities into its rehearsals, including handbells, percussion instruments and singing. Rehearsals follow the style of MusicTogether, an early childhood development music program for infants to early elementary age children. This group presents music for worship once every three months. The Preschool choir is directed by Kim Pittman, and meets at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center.
